Turn heartache into healing

Therapy for a Called Off Engagement

A called off engagement is an incredibly painful and disorienting experience that often goes unspoken and unsupported. Whether you made the decision, your ex-partner ended it, or it was mutual, you're likely navigating a deep mix of grief, shock, sadness, confusion, and isolation.

Although this experience technically falls under the umbrella of major life transitions, it deserves space and care of its own because it is a unique kind of heartbreak.

You Are Not Alone, Even If It Feels That Way

A few years ago, I personally went through the experience of calling off my own engagement. At the time, I didn’t know a single person who had been through it. I searched for validation and connection, but outside of reality TV headlines, I didn’t see anyone talking about it.

Through that healing journey, I not only rebuilt and elevated my life, but I also began specializing in therapy for adults healing from called off engagements and broken wedding plans. What I learned is that this experience is far more common than we realize, it’s just not talked about enough.

how i can support you

Whether you’re feeling blindsided, relieved, devastated, or simply lost, therapy can offer a space to process it all. I provide both individual therapy and group therapy for adults navigating the end of an engagement and the new path forward.

Individual therapy

In our one-on-one work together, we’ll focus entirely on your healing process. Our sessions will help you:

  • Understand and process complex emotions like grief, guilt, shame, anger, and heartbreak

  • Reconnect with your core values and identity

  • Explore the deeper meanings and lessons in this experience, without judgement

  • Rebuild your self-worth and confidence

  • Clarify your vision for a meaningful, healthy life going forward, whether that’s solo or with a future partner

  • Take intentional steps toward healing, growth, and personal empowerment

This group is about honoring the uniqueness and depth of what you’ve been through and making space for the next chapter of your life to unfold with more clarity, authenticity, and self-trust.

Group therapy

While one-on-one therapy provides a deeply personal space to process, group therapy after a called off engagement offers something equally powerful: connection. Being in a group of others who truly understand what you're going through can be profoundly healing, especially when this kind of experience is so rarely talked about. When your engagement ends, especially if the wedding was already being planned, you’re not just grieving a relationship. You may also be experiencing:

  • Grief over a vision of your your future that no longer exists

  • Shame or confusion about what “went wrong”

  • Embarrassment from others' reactions or social stigma

  • A sudden loss of identity, especially if the engagement defined part of your life

In this group, we hold space for all of it, without judgment. You no longer have to carry this pain alone. Learn more below.
